Liberasisation - Climbing for Foreigners

The Visa norm for Mountaineering has been relaxed in that the requirement of Mountaineering X Visa in general has been done away, the normal Tourist Visa will do.

Also, earlier condition for applying minimum 90 days prior to arrival in India has been relaxed. The Indian Mountaineering Foundation can now issue permits for Open Peaks in Indian Himalaya within two to four weeks on receipt of the application. The procedures for Other Peaks remain unchanged.

The Indian Mountaineering Foundation is also working on modalities of receiving online payments and issue of online permit which hopefully will be introduced by 2008.
