IMF reduces charges for small expeditions to encourage mountaineering and high altitude treks in India

The IMF in order to promote small budget expeditions and also to save Himalayan environment from inslaught of large expeditions has reduced handling Charges for smaller expeditions proportionately. IMF expects expeditions limited to a maximum seven members and in exceptional circumstances to an outer limit of twelve members.

The new fee structure introduced is effective from 2007 and those groups have already planned their expedition in India will also get benefit of new policy of handling charges of IMF. Any other fee charged by the state of Uttarakhand and Sikkim will be extra.
