It has been noticed by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation from the UIAA Mountaineering Commission President's report that many agents in India have agreed on peaks and regions that they will use without permission from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation has noticed from the UIAA President's from the note regarding, who had authorized vide Para 11(a) of Foreigners' Order 1948 issued by the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs under their notification No. 11013/4/78-FI of 9.1.1979.
Indian Air Force activates its rescue sorties on the request from IMF, being the apex body appointed by the Government of India for regulating mountaineering and allied adventure activities in Indian Himalaya. Thus, unauthorized mountaineering activity in India will not only land foreigners in legal hassles, they will also not be entitled to any rescue operation from India . Further, IMF and Dept. of Tourism will blacklist such Tour Operator dealing in unauthorised activities.
Alpinists & Mountaineers are, therefore, requested to follow Govt. of India guidelines in mountaineering and high altitude trekking in India and should desist from taking services of such misleading agents. Any such misleading offers from Tour Operators may please be informed to the IMF.
